The Lean Service Awareness course is a practical 1-day learning event suitable for any individuals who want to understand more about how Lean Thinking can help to drive improvement in the service sector.
For more information on our Lean for Services training programmes please get in touch.
You will complete the Lean Service Awareness course with a basic understanding of Lean, and its principles, and critically an evaluation of how and when these translate into the service sector. It uses an interactive simulation to aid understanding and is supported by real case studies to cement learning.
Lean is undoubtedly one of the most effective ways to improve service whilst simultaneously reducing costs, which is why its use is becoming so widespread in the service sector. This course will give you an insight into why it is so popular and will leave you with ideas that you can quickly take back to the workplace.
Learning Objectives
Participants who complete training will be confident enough to:
- identify the recognised history of Lean
- describe the classic 5 Lean principles
- give examples of the 7 classic wastes
- apply basic Lean improvement techniques to a service simulation to:
- a) Diagnose process problems
- b) Make improvements and test their outcomes
- understand the basic differences between service and manufacturing
- identify service wastes and understand why these are different to the classic 7 wastes
Learning Style
This course is based around an interactive service-sector simulation which allows delegates to put the theory taught into practice during the day.
This style of learning is complimented with other group exercises and lots of group discussion, making this a great event for sharing experience and learning from others.
The course is completed with the sharing of case studies from different service sector improvement projects, allowing delegates to see real examples of Lean transformation that they can relate to.
Accreditation
Delegates who successfully pass a multiple choice test will receive accreditation at level 1a of the Lean Competency System (LCS). The LCS was created by the Lean Enterprise Research Centre at Cardiff Business School and is the only academically recognised Lean qualification available worldwide.
